Kids who are in difficult situations need positive role models in their lives that they can get advice from, learn from and also just to have someone to count on to be present in their lives. It’s hard to navigate through life’s sometimes difficult terrain and if there’s someone in a kid’s life that has more life experience and who is willing to share their own personal experiences with them, it makes the task a little more easy. Being a mentor doesn’t mean that you have to have all the answers for every problem, but it does mean that you’re a guiding light, walking side by side, giving encouragement and wise advise for those who need it the most.
