Children’s Village, Inc. is the only long term placement facility for children in the county and this is vital to ensuring a stable home life for children who have suffered severed family relationships. We take pride in the fact that not only do we provide shelter, but that Children’s Village is a haven where loving care is provided to children who are victims of broken relationships.

Greetings to all of my family and friends!
I am so proud and excited to announce the long awaited book release of  (ITMOYS) IN THE MIDST OF YOUR STORM, written by (yours truly) Ataska Winsett and Deidre Murray. ” They said we wouldn’t make it, they said we wouldn’t pull it off” but God said Yes!!
ITMOYS is a true story about the lives of Ataska and Deidre and how they didn’t give up on the vision and dream that God gave them. They endured and have overcomed many trials and tribulations with cancer, deaths, losses, relationships, spiritual growth, self-esteem and many more “storms”! This book was written to encourage you to never give up on your hopes, dreams and visions because God will always be IN THE MIDST OF YOUR STORM.
I have attached a flyer for our upcoming book release party and hope that you will come out to celebrate with us. Books will be available for purchase at the book signing. For my family and friends that are out of state and/or that will not be able to attend, the book will be available on our website www.itmoys.com and www.published.com in a couple of weeks. The Village Update

Here are some recent happenings at The Village; dinner for children was sponsored by the Optimist Club on April 27, 2010; 10 children were honored for academic, behavior and achievement at Logan’s Roadhouse Hwy 150 and we had 3 residents who were on the A-B Honor roll. We had several residents who received special recognition for the following: Caught Doing Something Good, Mr. Spic and Span, Resident of the Month, Ms. Spic and Span and Most Improved.

We also have a special person who helped tutor, Melvin Love (Curriculum Specialist at Wenonah Elementary), who started a reading program entitled “Reading the Village Way”. We would love to reward the children at the end of the school year.

Several of our residents are trying out for various sports at their schools, we wish them all the best! The young kids will be attending summer camp at the YMCA and youth 16 and older are looking for summer employment.
